Dine at a dreamy restaurant scattered around a Swedish nature reserve

As some countries begin to ease lockdown measures, one spot in Sweden is providing restaurant-goers with a chance to dine safely in a unique setting, nestled amidst the natural world and surrounded by calming scenery. Nowhere, a new restaurant experience, allows guests to dine on a raft, in a meadow and in a wooded grove.

Taking social distancing to another level, Nowhere aims to serve guests, as the name suggests, in the middle of nowhere. Created by Oddbird, a winery that makes non-alcoholic wine, the restaurant is located in Häringe Nature Reserve just outside Stockholm. The experience sees six tables being scattered around in particularly beautiful locations, free from any contact with other guests. Experiences can be booked in the middle of a forest, in a field or on a raft by the water.

All six places at Nowhere are individually designed by the Danish interior design duo The Norrmans using recycled furniture and materials. The menu is created by chefs Linn Söderström and Marion Ringborg, who are behind restaurant Garba in Stockholm, and Oddbird’s own wines are served along with the food.

“We have always been on the run, for new experiences, new places and new things. But the corona crisis this spring forced us to a halt. No going somewhere, no traveling, no social dining. We had to stop and rethink the idea of pleasure - and found those places that were right in front of us - the places we used to call nowhere,” a representative of Oddbird told Lonely Planet. The winery also said that the restaurant is an opportunity to reflect and find the magic in the simple things. 

In April, Rasmus Persson and Linda Karlsson unveiled Bord for En, a dining experience that sees guests being served one at a time in a meadow. The food is delivered in a picnic basket tied to a rope taken from the restaurant’s kitchen window with the help of a bicycle wheel.

The response has been strong for the experience, with the tables booking up after two minutes when the seats were released. Restaurant reservations are open now, with experiences taking place from August on.
